APSCON 2010
APSCON is the Australian Photographic Society's annual convention, alternating between the States and Territories.
APSCON provides a varied programme of exhibitions, lectures, workshops, tours and social events. A diverse range of top quality photographers are always on the programme. The Societies annual business meetings and annual dinners are also held at this time, at which APS and FIAP Honours for photographic skill and service to photography are presented as well as awards for the Who's Who for the current year.
Many members make APSCON the basis of their annual holidays and attend every year without fail and many life long friendships have been made at this time.
The 2010 Annual Conference of the Australian Photographic Society (APSCON 2010) is in Roma, Queensland. Roma is about 4 -5 hours North/West of Brisbane....depending how many times you stop for photos!
It will be held at the Roma Cultural Centre from the 18th September to the 24th September.
Roma, a charming country town, is also accessible by Train, Coach and by Plane from Brisbane. The country side is flattish with smaller hills. In September it can be warm during the days and cooler at night. It may also be a good idea to bring some insect repellent and a sun hat!
The town is welcoming and there are quite a lot of hotels and motels but beware... there will also be a Spring festival and cattle sales at the same time so you need to BOOK your accommodation early... even if you book for the actual conference later.
The photographic opportunities and activities will be well worth your trip to country Queensland!
The programme includes exciting speakers from overseas and from round Australia.
The APSCON Committee and the APS Management Committee look forward to meeting you when you visit Roma!
